How to apply eye drops to your pet

Cataracts, Glaucoma and many other eye problems can leave you precious pet in pain and discomfort. If the condition develops then they can also be left needing a not only expensive, but very stressful operation to try and cure them. Our advice is to try and prevent the condition developing to that level and our range of eye drops can help you to do that. One major benefit of using our eye drops is how easy they are to apply to your animal and how stress free they are. There is no pain when applied, just instant relief. We have put together a guide to make it as easy as possible for you to use our products.
Firstly you should make sure that your pet is calm and relaxed, it is much harder if they are excited and energetic for example just before having food or going for a walk. If they are calm then the process is quicker and easier for you both.
Take your pets head and hold it firmly so that you have a clear access to the infected eye. It may be easier to gently pull down the lower lid of the eye if your pet has very small eyes, try to keep their eyes open as you gently squeeze the bottle over their eye until one drop falls.
Close their eye when the drop is inside the eye and very gently massage the eye to ensure that it is distributed and does not escape the eye. Depending on the treatment you are using you can repeat this step or do the same on both eyes if the infection is in both.
This step is optional but we suggest giving your dog a small treat as a well done for being so good. This also helps them understand that there is nothing to be scared about and the second time you use the drops they should allow it without hesitation.
Make sure after use of the drops you securely close them and store them out of direct sunlight.
